>Meekness

>Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Matthew 5:5

Meekness: basically equated with gentleness, or strength under control. Meekness is not synonymous with weakness. It’s the exercise of gentleness under the influence of the Holy Spirit. A felt covered brick. Soft, if you brush it. Solid, if you punch it.
This kind of character, describes those that inherit the earth. Think of the Millennial Kingdom. When Jesus reigns over all the nations, the whole system gets flipped on it’s head.
At the time that Jesus taught this, it was a counter-cultural message that flew in the face of the predominate Jewish idea of a liberator that would set them free from their oppressors, with force and political strength. Jesus came in meekness to establish a kingdom, that is, in almost every way, opposite of the kingdoms of man. It continues to be counter-cultural to the world around us today, but wisdom is justified by her children.
