>Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.
The Greek word “huioi”, translated “sons”, was used as a legal term in the adoption and inheritance laws of first-century Rome. As used by the apostle Paul, this term refers to the status of all Christians, both men and women, who, having been adopted into God’s family, now enjoy all the privileges, obligations, and inheritance rights of God’s children.
A peacemaker does not pursue the absence of conflict at any price. In fact, conflict, in the form of spiritual violence, is sometimes the only means to arrive at peace. A real peacemaker is reconciled to God and is a “son” who makes it his business to a be vessel, used by the God to live and carry the message of reconciliation.
God is reconciling all things unto himself.
For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God.
