>Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who where before you.
God promises that even those who live godly in this world will suffer persecution. When we are persecuted by the world for living right before God we are blessed, in our inheritance of His greater kingdom. Though we may loose our status or our lives, in this world we are promised a great inheritance, if we are persecuted for righteousness’ sake. Persecution alone is not rewarded by God, but persecution from the world or the religious, for His sake, is esteemed by Him as taking part in His sufferings. It will yield a greater weight of glory, in the age to come.
